Kariobangi is a low-income residential estate in northeastern Nairobi, Kenya. CARE for AIDS opened their first center in this community in early 2014. Each CARE for AIDS center operates from within a local church, and serves 80 HIV+ clients each year.

Pastor George lead's the church that the CARE for AIDS center operates out of, and he has an incredible calling to the community. When George was in school studying aeronautical engineering, God spoke to him and said, “Put down the machines... I want you to work on the heart.”

One week later he got a call inviting him to Bible college in Nairobi.  When he completed Bible college, he started working in the slums of Nairobi ministering to women who had been raped or abused. Before long, the people in the Kariobangi community asked George to become their pastor. He started a church, and in two short years, it has grown to 350 members. They have moved buildings four times because of the church's rapid growth.

There are approximately 500,000 people in the slum of Kariobangi, and the church already had a database of 2,070 people who are infected with HIV. That is more than 20 years of eligible clients for the CARE for AIDS program. This center will be a strong beacon of hope to the thousands of men and women living with HIV.
